Today I see Xero are running this competition to help small business owners reduce the days they wait before getting paid. With the amount of data Xero has acquired, it can provide these useful insights into small businesses which up until now did not exist.
One such insight is the number of days small businesses wait to get paid. Recently these have blown out a little. To help small business owners, Xero have run a competition. Pay your debts and win a prize. It is a brilliant idea. It shows you what you can do with data and gamify this to gain advantage.
Every touch point is an opportunity to connect with people we do business with. Every touch point is an opportunity to strengthen relationships. Sending an invoice should not be about simply sending an invoice. It is a story. A story about two parties engaging with each other. How one party had a problem and another party had a solution. How one party had a desire to invest and another party provided the investment to meet that desire. When you have stories and develop relationships, getting paid should not be an issue.
When I talk to people who are struggling financially, I often hear them say, I want to pay this business, they are good people and have also taken care of me. That’s where you want to be.
Will you be taken care of?
