Survive to Thrive – A journey to business success
If you're a business owner, then it's likely that most of your efforts are geared towards surviving and growing your business. You may be performing well, but would like to improve, and searching for the right way to do it. You may be looking down the road to work out whether you want to pass on your business, or you may be facing some serious financial issues.
There’s a myth about successful business people, that they are solely responsible for the success of their business. In reality, successful people ensure that they are surrounded by people with the skills and experience that will help them achieve their goals.
Just look at Steve Jobs, a driven perfectionist who made plenty of mistakes in his years at Apple, but by ensuring he had the best talent on his team possible, including the iconic designer Jonny Ive, Apple was able to recover from the lean years and ultimately become one of the most successful businesses in the world.
How is that relevant to your business?
Let me ask some questions:
- Do you have financial issues in your business, are you facing bankruptcy or insolvency?
- Are you so busy running your business you have no time to plan?
- Do you need help with your business strategy, or creating a culture that reflects your values?
- Are you easily sidetracked and have difficulty setting priorities?
If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then you need help.
When you look at all the businesses around you, your competitors, suppliers etc, it often seems that they’re well run and successful. But scratch below the surface and they’re businesses that have the same problems that you do.
Whatever issues you have in your business, just repeating the same mistakes will almost guarantee failure, you need to change if you’re going to resolve your problems satisfactorily.
